Wetness 4136 Medium Solids Clear Coat

Wetness 4136 Medium Solids Clear Coat is a premium, low VOC urethane clear coat designed for spot, panel, and overall refinishing. With 100% DOI (Distinctness of Image) and 36% solids by weight, this 4:1 clear delivers exceptional gloss, coverage, and workability. Formulated with high-grade European resins, it offers higher solids than House of Kolor USC01, giving you more build, shine, and value in every coat.

Suitable Substrates

Application Instructions

  • Apply basecoat per manufacturer instructions
  • Spray 2–3 flowing coats (2.2–3.6 mils total, ~1.2 mils per coat)
  • Allow 10–15 minutes flash between coats based on activator
  • Maintain 6–10″ gun distance to prevent air entrapment
  • Seal containers tightly when not in use
  • Clean all equipment thoroughly after application

Dry & Buff Times

Important Notes

  • Do not exceed 1-hour flash between coats. After 1 hour, wait 5+ hours, scuff with red/gray pad, and reapply.
  • Minimum 2.2 mils dry film thickness for optimal UV resistance.

Surface Preparation

  • Follow basecoat manufacturer guidelines
  • Allow minimum 15 minutes flash before applying clear
  • Extend flash times in temps below 70°F
  • Tack with a clean tack cloth before spraying

Recoating: If more than 24 hours have passed, scuff with 1000 grit and degrease before recoating. Apply heat to sand-throughs to avoid featheredge lifting.

What size tip to spray clear coat?
This will depend upon the clear you're using. Most high solids clears, you'll want a 1.4. Medium solids you can use a 1.2 or 1.3. With our high solids clears you can use a 1.2, 1.3 or 1.4 without any issues.
