Kandy Base Coat (KBC)
When you hear the words kandy base coat, you’re thinking “Hey it’s a base coat that I can spray right over my primer/sealer.” In all actuality, it’s not. When you start to use the Formula tab of House of Kolor’s website, you see exactly what they’ve been doing. Selling you powder pearls mixed with a candy concentrate and base maker.

House of Kolor KBC11 Apple Red Formula
Take for example KBC11 Apple Red KBC, it’s simply DP32 (dry pearl lilac), KK11 (apple red kandy koncentrate) and S2-00 (trans nebulae). Now when you look at their formula page for KBC11, you’ll see they tell you to spray it over their S2-25. That is their jet black base coat.
So why are they called kandy base coats when in reality they are just a kandy & pearl mid-coat? Well that is up to which salesman you ask.
