Force drying produces tightly packed, intricate crystals, while air drying forms larger, more dramatic crystal formations. Customize Your Crystal Patterns
The appearance of the final crystallized pattern can be adjusted based on your application technique. Here are a few popular methods:
- Intricate Swirled Patterns: Lightly scuff your intercoat or clear coat in a swirling motion for a tightly woven, swirled crystal pattern.
- Web Patterns: Scuff the surface in an X-pattern to create dramatic, interconnected crystal webs.
- Straight Line Patterns: Use straight-line scuffing for a linear, geometric crystal effect.

Crystal Mess Application Guide:
- Paint your surface with single-stage or base/clear system of your choice.
- Let the clear coat fully cure, then sand with 400–600 grit wet/dry sandpaper.
- Wash thoroughly with soap and water and allow to air dry.
- Apply Crystal Mess by spraying or pouring onto the surface.
- Allow to air dry for larger crystals, or force dry for smaller, tighter patterns.
- Apply a light dust coat of your contrasting color over the crystals. (We recommend over-reducing your paint for better results.) Allow to dry completely.
- Scrub away the crystals using water and a grey scuff pad (Scotch-Brite). Let any remaining moisture dry thoroughly.
- Finish with any high-quality clear coat or topcoat of your choice.
- *Dry times based on 77ºF ambient temperature.
Important Notes:
For best results, always test your technique on a small area first. The final crystal effect is highly dependent on surface prep, ambient temperature, and drying method.

I’ve tried it out and it does exactly what it says and matches the video, will need to get help with a more detailed crystal effect,never worked with this concept of art. .
